What is Realms of the Ascended?

Realms of the Ascended (RotA) is an isometric action RPG rogue-lite in development at VisEterna Studio, an independent studio. You play as a god drawn from world mythology, starting with the Norse pantheon in Season 1, and fight through bounded realms, dungeons, and survival arenas with an ability kit built around synergies between gods.

Who is making Realms of the Ascended?

VisEterna Studio, LLC, a small independent studio founded by Kaleb McDaniel, using Unreal Engine 5.7. Development is documented openly in the studio's Forge Chronicle.

Which gods are playable?

The current prototype has three playable gods: Thor, Odin, and Freyja. Loki, Tyr, and Baldr are planned for the Season 1 roster. Heimdall appears as a story character who gives missions at the Bifrost.

What game modes are planned?

Six ways to play: Echoes of Divinity and Celestial Trials (dungeon crawl, casual and competitive), Divine Wanderings and Ascension of the Gods (roguelite, casual and competitive), Story Mode, and Survival.

When does Realms of the Ascended release, and on what platforms?

There is no announced release date. The game is in prototype on PC. Progress and goals are published on the Forge Chronicle, and the mailing list gets playtest and launch news first.

Is Realms of the Ascended related to the VisEterna Codex mythology wiki?

Yes. The Codex is the studio's free, academically sourced world-mythology encyclopedia. Where a myth inspired something in the game, the article notes it, and the RotA Wiki links back to the myth.
